With the majestic Zambezi Valley Escarpment in the background, Royal Zambezi Lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, within the Chiawa Game Management area, bordering the Lower Zambezi National Park.  Directly across the river is Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.  Completely unfenced, the regular guests to the lodge include elephant, hippo, buffalo, leopard, lion and an extensive variety of birdlife.


The lodge’s open plan communal area is home to the reception, dining room and lounge, offering a welcoming relaxing space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.  The spacious verandah is the perfect shady spot to appreciate soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.  Boasting 15 luxurious suites, Royal Zambezi Lodge provides contemporary comfort and understated elegance.  The canopied canvas and thatched tents nestle under mature trees, each positioned to offer spectacular views and secluded privacy.  Each suite has a private plunge pool to enjoy in complete seclusion, and the on-site bush spa offers guests the ultimate refuge to restore the mind, body and spirit in peace and tranquility.


Safari activities at the lodge are planned to coincide with the best game viewing times.  Early morning, late afternoon and night drives are designed to provide the best safari experience.  Early morning game drives generally offer the best time to spot big cats returning from their night’s hunting before guests are returned to the lodge to enjoy the facilities at the lodge during the warmer midday hours.  Evening and night safaris provide exceptional game viewing opportunities, as the wildlife becomes more active, and the predators begin their hunting.  Bushwalking, hiking, canoeing, boating, fishing and birdwatching opportunities are offered to guests, providing a wide variety of options for guests wishing to experience the area from every angle. 


Royal Zambezi Lodge serves the highest level of cuisine utilizing locally sourced ingredients. Meals are tailored to suit any dietary requirements, and flexibility in meal times, allowing guests time to truly appreciate the mastery of the creations prepared by the on-site chef team.  Whether guests are looking for continental or full cooked breakfasts, gourmet picnic lunches or full outdoor buffets, private dinners in their suite, or candlelit dinners under the starts, the team at Royal Zambezi Lodge understand the true meaning of hospitality.


This family friendly lodge welcomes children of all ages.  One of the eight deluxe suites is perfectly suited to cater for families, offering a shared seating area between two rooms for the while family to enjoy.  Alternatively, three of the seven presidential suites are suited to families who prefer that the entire family is housed under one roof.
